Agra Travel Guide: Visit India's Most Visited Place

When the word Agra is mentioned, the next word that comes to mind is Taj Mahal. But Agra is not only famous for the Taj Mahal. It has a total of three UNESCO World Heritage sites: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri. But the one day visit will be enough if you only want to see these three places. However, there are many other tourist attractions in Agra such as Sikandra, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb and Jama Masjid, and to explore them you have to stay longer and need a reliable Agra guide.

The city of Agra was the capital of ancient India and the seat of the Mughal Empire. So the influence of the Mughals can be found in their culture, tradition, cuisine and architecture. There are many Mughal gardens in and around the city. It goes without saying that the Taj Mahal, built by King Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, is a marble dream and an enduring symbol of true love. The ethereal beauty of the building cannot be described in words.

The glory of Agra Fort could be understood through the various structures it contains such as Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Moti Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, and Jahangir Palace, etc. The perimeter of the fort is 2.4 kilometers. Fatehpur Sikri, about 40 kilometers from Agra, is a majestic ruined fortress. Buland Darwaza is considered the largest gate in the world with a height of 53.63 meters. All this splendor makes Agra the most visited place in India.

Another reason that makes Agra such a desirable place is its proximity to Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a commercial, cultural, educational and political center and therefore thousands of people come and go every day. Jaipur visitors for the first time visit Agra and Taj Mahal, the wonder of the world is one of the interesting features. To meet your needs, there are frequent buses and trains from Jaipur to Agra.

Agra is famous for its aromatic and spicy non-vegetarian mughlai dishes. Skewers, korma varieties, roast lamb, beef and chicken, and spiced biriyani are some of them. Most of the restaurants in Agra are located in the Taj Ganj area, which is a perfect place for foodies. Some of the multi cuisine restaurants are located near the west gate of the Taj Mahal. You can find North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mughlai, and Continental dishes at these Agra restaurants.

If you want to enjoy all the wonders that Agra has in store for you, you must choose the right hotel for your stay. Many Agra hotels are located in the Fatehabad area. If you want to visit the Taj Mahal on a full moon night, choose the hotel next to the Taj Mahal. Many cozy hotels have rooms with views of the Taj Mahal. Some of Agra's budget hotels and restaurants have rooftop seating that offers expansive views of the Taj Mahal. You can enjoy this amazing monument at sunrise and sunset when you book your room at one of these hotels.
